Affordable EV Charging Solutions are proud to be an approved OZEV installer. As an approved EV charger installer, we are able to process grant applications for eligible customers which can help you save £350 off the cost of a domestic installation and up to £15,000 off the cost of a commercial installation. State funded educational institutes can receive up to £100,000.

What is a grant?

OZEV grants (Office for Zero Emission Vehicles) are money from the UK government to help offset the cost of EV charger installations in some circumstances. These grants do not have to be paid back.

Am I eligible?

If you are having an EV charger installed for the first time at a residential property you may be eligible for a grant if you own or lease (or have ordered) an eligible electric/plug-in hybrid vehicle AND one of the following apply:

  • You rent your property (including shared ownership) and have your own private off-street parking
  • You own your property, and you only have on-street parking and are planning on getting an approved cross-channel pavement solution
  • You own and live in a flat and have your own private off-street parking

How much is the grant?

You can get 75% off the cost to buy and install a socket, up to a maximum of £350

Do I have to pay first and get reimbursed?

No.  As approved OZEV installers, Affordable EV Charging Solutions will apply for the grant on your behalf and cover the cost.  Your payment to us will be less the £350.

What about landlords?

There are two grants you can get for installing charge points for electric vehicles at a rental property you own:

Electric vehicle (EV) chargepoint grant

An EV chargepoint grant gives you money off the cost of installing an electric vehicle charge point socket.

You can get 75% off the cost to buy and install a socket, up to a maximum of £350 per socket.

You can receive up to 200 grants a year for residential properties, and a further 100 for commercial properties.

Electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure grant

An EV infrastructure grant gives you money off the cost of wider building and installation work that’s needed to install multiple chargepoint sockets. The work can be for sockets you want to install now and in the future. For example, an EV infrastructure grant can cover things like wiring and posts. You can get 75% off the cost of the work up to a maximum of £30,000. The amount depends on how many parking spaces the work covers.

You can get:

  • up to £350 per charge point socket installed
  • up to £500 per parking space enabled with supporting infrastructure

You can receive up to 30 grants each financial year for installing infrastructure in residential carparks.

You cannot apply for the infrastructure grant if you’re a commercial landlord.

What about commercial grants?

There are currently several grants available for commercial properties and, state-funded educational institutes:

Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS)

The Workplace Charging Scheme provides support for organizations towards the cost of installing up to 40 electric vehicle charge point sockets at their sites.

The scheme covers up to 75% of the total costs of the purchase and installation of EV charge points (including VAT), capped at a maximum of:

  • £350 per socket
  • 40 sockets across all sites per applicant – for instance, if you want to install them at 40 sites, you will have 1 socket available per site

It is open to eligible:

  • businesses
  • charities
  • public sector organizations
  • small accommodation businesses

Workplace Charging Scheme for state-funded education institutions

This grant is for state-funded schools and education institutions to install electric vehicle charge point sockets at their site(s).

Installations usually cost around £1,500 to £2,500, depending on the area and type of installation.

You can get 75% off the cost to buy and install charge points up to a maximum of:

  • £2,500 per socket
  • 40 sockets across all sites including any applications made previously via the Workplace Charging Scheme

You will need to confirm that you meet all the criteria in the application form.

Electric vehicle infrastructure grant for staff and fleets

This grant is for small and medium-sized businesses.

An EV infrastructure grant gives you money off the cost of wider building and installation work that’s needed to install multiple chargepoint sockets.

The work can be for sockets you want to install now and in the future. For example, an EV infrastructure grant can cover things like wiring and posts.

The grant covers 75% of the cost of the work, up to a maximum of £15,000. You can get:

  • up to £350 per charge point socket installed
  • up to £500 per parking space enabled with supporting infrastructure
